Re: Messenger for Mac 7 not accepting my ID and Password
You can easily sign in to Messenger for Mac 7 with Windows Live IDs including all e‑mail accounts ending in "@live.com", "@hotmail.com", "@msn.com" and other accounts registered with Windows Live. Now as you said you are sure that the ID and password is correct than i guess its a firewall that is preventing Messenger for Mac from signing in. You need to Set up Messenger to use a proxy server.
If you use automatic configuration, the TCP protocol might appear to be selected, but Messenger is actually using the TLS protocol instead. When automatic configuration is selected, Messenger uses the TLS protocol. If TLS is unavailable, then Messenger uses the TCP protocol.
To manually configure your network settings:
Make sure that you are signed out of Messenger.
On the Messenger menu, click Preferences.
Click Accounts, and then click the Corporate tab.
Under My Network Settings, click Manually configure settings.
Type the server name or IP address.
Click either TCP or TLS.

If you connect to the Internet from a local network (such as at work), you might have to enable proxy settings. These settings connect you to Web servers outside your organization's firewall. Your network administrator can give you the proxy settings that you have to use.
Make sure that you are signed out of Messenger.
On the Messenger menu, click Preferences.
Click Accounts, and then click the Personal tab.
Under My Network Settings, click Manually configure settings, and then select the I use a proxy server check box.
On the Type pop-up menu, click the type of proxy server that you are connecting to.
In the Server box, type the address of the proxy server, without the "http://" prefix.
Enter additional settings, such as a port number in the Port box.
If your organization uses SOCKS Version 5.0 as the proxy type, enter a user name and password in the User name and Password boxes.

Re: Messenger for Mac 7 not accepting my ID and Password
I am petty sure that firewall that is built into Mac OS X is blocking Messenger. Confirm that your firewall settings are appropriate for your network. If the firewall setting on your computer is enabled, you might have to adjust your port settings. A symptom of this problem is that Messenger times out while you are trying to sign in. Just try this steps to fix it out:-
On the Apple menu, click System Preferences.
Under Personal, click Security, and then click the Firewall tab.
If the firewall is turned on, see your network administrator to verify that you entered the correct port settings for both your Office Communications Server 2007 messaging service and your Mac OS X firewall settings.

If you are still facing the same problem than finally i'll suggest you to delete the Messenger preferences file, and then reenter sign-in information. To do so:-
In the Finder, open /Users/username/Library/Preferences/, and then drag the following files to the Trash: com.microsoft.Messenger.plist and com.microsoft.Messenger.rtc.plist.
In /Users/username/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/, drag the following file to the Trash: Microsoft Messenger User Cache.plist.
Open Messenger.
The Messenger Setup Assistant opens.
Follow the steps in the Setup Assistant to reenter sign-in information.
Thats it !!!
